Funds are earmarked from the city's Taking Lasting Care (TLC) program which the city's Parks Maintenance Division considers when upgrading parks. Playground equipment in Danny Kendrick Park West and Farmstead Park was about 20 years old, the division told the city. Arvada has about 70 parks and open space areas.
The contract provided for the complete demolition and removal of the old playground equipment, and replacement with new, themed equipment and rubber matting under the equipment.

What's Next? Public Input Needed on 2019 Playground Renovations
The next parks on the city's upgrade list are 2019 renovations of Ralston Valley Park Playground and Rainbow East Park Playground.
After getting input from the community, the parks department will create a series of designs that fit the available budget, the city said. In Spring 2019, citizens and neighbors will be able to choose the final design, the city said.
