Property Tax Help For Seniors and Disabled
Did you know there are several ways Jefferson County offers tax support for older adults and disabled residents?

As we age, often our income becomes limited or fixed. This is even more true for our disabled residents and elderly. In an attempt to help reduce the burden of taxes for those that are older or disabled, Jefferson County has three programs that you can apply for to help defer or lower property taxes.
1. Tax Deferral Program is offered through the Jefferson County Treasurers Office. It covered the taxes needed to be paid then puts a lien on your property until you leave the program or sell your house. You can contact the Treasurer's Office here.
2. Tax Credit for Elderly and Disabled offered by the Colorado Dept of Revenue. You can apply for this credit when you file your state taxes.

3. City Tax Credit. In Arvada, the city has a resident rebate program. Learn more about eligibility here
If you are interested in applying to this program, it's important to remember the documents should be filled out now for next year, if you apply. The two programs are backfilled by the state of Colorado and are the Tax Deferral Program and the Senior Exemption program.
