Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Metro Denver, Boulder

The National Weather Service has issued a storm alert for the Front Range.

DENVER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Denver's metro area and Boulder. The warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Wind gusts of up to 70 mph could hit some Front Range regions, weather officials said.

"The storms will move toward the southeast and will be mainly south of Denver by mid evening," the weather alert reads. "One or two severe storms will be possible with hail up to 2 inches in diameter."

"The severe storm threat will mainly be along and near the Front Range foothills, including the Denver-Boulder metro area from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Further to the east, thunderstorms will be weaker and less numerous but could still produce small hail and brief heavy rain."

The thunderstorm watch has been issued for many Colorado counties, including Denver, Boulder, Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas, Jefferson and Broomfield counties.
