BOULDER, CO -- If you spread the runners in Monday's Boston Marathon evenly across the United States, there would be one for roughly every 117 square miles. Boulder County contributed more than its fair share to the pack this year, with 95 local entrants.

In the end, 78 locals survived the Newton Hills to cross the finish line in Copley Square. They ranged in age from a trio of 24-year-olds to John O'Loughlin, 70, who finished with a time of 4:22:50, good enough for 44th place in the men's 70-74 division.

In the women's elite race, Kenya's Worknesh Degefa ran the last 20 miles of the race solo, finishing in 2:23:31, 42 seconds ahead of compatriot Edna Kiplagat, who took second. Kiplagat relocated with her family to Boulder just this year. Boulder resident Becky Wade finished 15th in the elite division with a time of 2:36:14.
