AD Rick George Puts Rumors Of Coach MacIntyre's Departure To Bed
Speculation about the football coach's tenure at CU had spread wildly after a News7 report Monday night.

BOULDER, CO -- University of Colorado Athletic Director Rick George has – at least for the moment – thrown water on the overnight rumors that head football coach Mike MacIntyre would be leaving the program at the end of the season. The story was originally run by Denver's News7 on Monday Nov. 12 and was picked up by several other local news sources.
"We do not comment on speculation or unsubstantiated rumors with anonymous sources. Let me just say I have made no decisions regarding the future of the football program," said George in a statement Tuesday morning. "As I've stated in the past, we continually evaluate all aspects of all of our 17 intercollegiate sport programs."
The story came amid an atmosphere of strong fan discontent as MacIntyre's Buffs ride a five-game losing streak. From his initial hiring in December of 2012 through the 2016 season in which he won several national coach of the year awards, MacIntyre seemed to be just the medicine the languishing Buffs needed. Since then, however, MacIntyre's record has been mixed, and his team failed to make a bowl game in 2017.

MacIntyre has taken criticism off the field for his handling of a domestic violence case involving assistant coach Joe Tumpkin. Though Tumpkin was eventually fired, MacIntyre's slow action after he was informed of the allegations has been investigated and critiqued.
