After Rescue, Stray Kitten Finds Home Among Berthoud Firefighters
Firefighters with the Berthoud Fire Protection District discovered the kitten in a tree after hearing her meows behind Station 1.

BERTHOUD, CO — A 5-week old kitten found her forever home by accident this week after she was rescued from a tree by the firefighters of Berthoud Fire Protection District Station 1.
Firefighters discovered the kitten stuck in a tree after they heard sounds coming from behind the station. It’s uncertain how long she was in the tree, but firefighters were able to safely get her down and into the station to be checked out.
After evaluation by Dr. Mary Lou Kizer of Animal Health at Home in Berthoud, it was determined the kitten was a stray and malnourished. Regardless, the kitten already made her way into the hearts of Station 1, and Public Information Officer May Soricelli decided to adopt her into the Berthoud Fire family and continue her recuperation.
