Boulder Arts Week 2019 Starts Friday

BOULDER, CO -- Boulder Arts Week arrives this year from March 29–April 6, and with it comes free and discounted arts and culture offerings across the city. Highlights include art walks, exhibitions, performances, dance, music, theater, public art, lectures, readings, and a variety of workshops.

Friday, March 29

• Cellissimo Concert: An advanced cello ensemble of 12 gifted middle an high school students from the Western Springs School of Talent Education and Naperville Suzuki School in the Chicago suburbs. (Community Church of Christ, 6:30 p.m. Free!)
• Boulder International Film Festival Shorts: A replay of the greatest hits from BIFF 2019. (Boulder Public Library, 12 p.m.)

Saturday, March 30

• Comedy Open Mic: Try your own hand at the art of comedy! (The Tune Up on Pearl, 7 p.m.)
• Flamenco Dance Class: Learn fundamental Flamenco steps. (The Avalon Ballroom, 1 p.m.)

Sunday, March 31

• SPRINGBreak Choreofest 2019: Selected choreographers from across the country come together for one week in Boulder to make something magical. (Dairy Arts Center, 6:30 p.m.)
• Animation Station Pop-Up Studio for Kids: Let your kids express their creativity with a stop-motion animation feature. (Museum of Boulder, 10 a.m.)

Monday, April 1

• Aerial Foundations Dance Class: Try your hand at the high-flying art form with a drop-in class (Frequent Flyers Productions, 5:45 p.m.)

Tuesday, April 2

• Julia Michaels: See the "unabashedly honest" singer, songwriter, and performer, and recent breakout star. (Fox Theater, 7 p.m.)
• Boulder Conversations with Nii Armah Sowah: Come hear from CU-Boulder's senior instructor of dance and an arts educator with 1000 voices. (Museum of Boulder, 5:30 p.m.)

Wednesday, April 3

• In the Mouth of Madness: Shiver your way through an evening with horror writer Sutter Crane's latest film. (Muenzinger Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.)
• Strike a Pose: Become a Fine Arts Model: Find out if you have what it takes at this all-comers, all-bodies workshop. (Dairy Arts Center, 11:30 a.m.)

Thursday, April 4

• An Evening with Art Lande, Boy/Girl Band and S-Band: Come see the grammy-nominated pianist, composer, drummer and educator perform with two of his groups. (Dairy Arts Center, 7 p.m.)
• Women at War: A film about a middle-aged woman who declares war on heavy industry in her town. (Muenzinger Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.)

Friday, April 5

• Blue Dime Cabaret: Come see this hilarious pop-up troupe and their "lowbrow, avant-garde" show. (Full Cycle Taproom, 8 p.m.)
• Fiesta Flamenco: An evening of seductive Gypsy flamenco music with Maestro Rene Heredia and his Fantasy Flamenco Dance Theater. (Cafe Sole, 5 p.m.)

Saturday, April 6

• Art and Fitness, the Same Brain: Learn about the importance of movement and self-care. (ONE Boulder Fitness, 10 a.m.)
• Front Country and the Mighty Pines: An evening of innovative, acoustic, bluegrass-style music (Fox Theater, 8 p.m.)
