Boulder County Public Health Appoints New Executive Director

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — The Boulder County Board of Health appointed Monday a new executive director.

Camille Rodriguez begins her tenure June 7 as the first Latina to lead Boulder County Public Health, officials said.

“I’m very excited about joining Boulder County Public Health as the new executive director,” Rodriguez said in a statement.

“I appreciate the board’s and management’s confidence in me and to have the opportunity to lead such a great organization.”

Rodriguez has more than two decades of experience in public service. She previously served as a McLean County Health Department Administrator in Illinois, worked for the Wisconsin State Government's public health and family services departments, and served as Illinois' executive inspector general.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, a Master of Health Administration and a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law.

“We are fortunate to have someone like Camille who understands the importance of ensuring that all people have an opportunity for a healthy life,” said Lexi Nolen, Boulder County Public Health acting executive director, in a statement.

“Her extensive experience, strategic thinking and leadership will be an asset to BCPH.”

"Rodriguez played a leading role in continuing McLean County’s relationships with municipalities and townships, providing vision and a line of sight to goal achievement inside McLean County’s departments and services," the county said in a news release.

"In Wisconsin and Illinois, she lent her expertise to lead areas of long-term care and public health. Rodriguez was a key planner and leader in implementing the first-ever health plan for children in foster care and assumed leadership roles in the administration of maternal and child health programs; long-term care; housing and health plans for children, adults, and the elderly; and tobacco and chronic disease prevention programs."

Rodriguez replaces former Boulder County Public Health Director Jeff Zayach, who retired in March.
