Boulder Osprey Cam Begins Streaming For the 2019 Season

Here's how you can catch the egg-laying and chick-hatching live.

BOULDER, CO -- The City of Boulder osprey cam is back on for the 2019 season. It watches over a nest that has been monitored by Open Space and Mountain Parks wildlife staff since 2011, and has been successful every year, according to city data, fledging a total of 14 fluffy babies.

In 2018, both the male and female osprey had returned to their nest by the end of March. On April 19, the first egg was laid, and it hatched on May 31.

According to the city website, the male and female can be identified by their markings. The female Ospreys has a bib of dark feathers on her chest, whereas the male has an almost completely white chest. The camera is solar powered, so prolonged periods of inclement weather may cause temporary outages. If an outage occurs, the city asks viewers to please be patient and the stream will be restored as quickly as possible.
