Boulder Storm Update: Blowing Snow, Freezing Temps By Afternoon
Temperatures will drop rapidly to 31 degrees by 4 p.m. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect through Thursday morning.
BOULDER, CO -- Temperatures hit 80 yesterday, but by this afternoon it is forecasted to be below freezing, with high winds and heavy snow. Boulder will be under a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service effective from noon today through 6 a.m. Thursday. Local meteorologists predict that the rapid drop in temperature could be sufficient to make for an icy, treacherous commute this afternoon.
Boulder may still be spared the worst of the storm, as eastern Colorado is under a blizzard warning for the second time in a month after March 13's bomb cyclone. Snow accumulation is currently predicted to total 4–7 inches, and winds could top 40 miles per hour for Boulder County, and more than 65 miles per hour for locations further east.
