BOULDER, CO — Local artists are creating a new, temporary Boulder Strong tribute, which is set to open Friday at the King Soopers where the mass shooting left 10 people dead.

The tribute, which will be open through Sunday, aims to honor the victims and offer another space where community members can come together and heal, organizers said.

Artists with The Makerie and Fawns Leap worked with King Soopers and the city of Boulder to create the flower wave installation, which will go up along a fence on the west side of the store's parking area.

King Soopers is donating fresh flowers for the tribute, and community members are asked to 'dissolve' the installation by taking a flower and giving it to a loved one, friend, neighbor or stranger, creators said.

"The intent of this gift is to acknowledge the ongoing support that has been demonstrated by the community throughout this tragedy," the city of Boulder said in a news release.
