City Of Boulder To Launch Parking Pilot Program

The city is launching the '$3 for 3 to 3' program.

BOULDER, CO — The City of Boulder is launching a new pilot program this month to make weeknight parking downtown more affordable. The program — dubbed '$3 for 3 to 3' — allows for parking in five downtown city parking garages after 3 p.m., and until 3 a.m., Monday through Friday for $3.

Launched by the city's Community Vitality Department, the program doesn't require any special tickets or codes — any vehicle that enters one of the garages after 3 p.m., and leaves before 3 a.m., will be charged $3 for their entire stay.

Anyone who leaves the garage after 3 a.m., will be charged the normal hourly rate — $1.25 per hour for the first four hours, $2.50 per hour after the first four hours — for the full duration of their stay.

The program is designed to meet the needs of downtown employees who work evenings and nights, which aren't necessarily convenient hours for public transit, the city said.

“I'm really pleased by this program and happy that it takes into account the needs of workers that are so instrumental in making our downtown the wonderful place that it is,” Boulder City Councilmember Mary Young said in a statement.

The program is available at the following downtown city parking garages:

  • 11th and Walnut (Randolph Center),
  • 11th and Spruce,
  • 15th and Pearl,
  • 10th and Walnut (St. Julien Hotel),
  • 14th and Walnut (RTD Bus Station).

The program begins Monday and runs through Dec. 31. Parking in the city parking garages will remain free Saturdays, Sundays and on city-recognized holidays.
