BOULDER, CO — The Colorado Latino Festival, scheduled to take place Sunday in Boulder, was postponed amid poor weather conditions and "very real" threats of immigration raids, organizers said.

"This combination of conditions has created a no-so (sic) ideal scenario for everyone participating," organizers wrote in a Facebook posting. "We want to be sensible to our communities. As vendors, artists, sponsors, volunteers, staff, contractors and attendees we want you to have a great experience while providing you the highest positive impact."

Organizers apologized to those affected and said they're working with city officials to set a new date.

The National Weather Service in Boulder issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of the region, writing that mountainous areas would see some scattered snow showers in the morning and some scattered rain showers were expected to develop over the plains.

"A few embedded thunderstorms could accompany the scattered rain showers," the agency said.

The showers would be able to produce moderate rainfall, wind gusts of up to 35 mph and small hail.

While the immigration raids had been planned for this weekend, President Donald Trump reportedly called off the sweep, aimed at deporting people living the United States illegally, including families. The Associate Press reported that Trump on Saturday said he would give lawmakers two weeks to come up with solutions for the U.S.-Mexico border.
