Old Foothills Parkway Bridge Removed Ahead Of Schedule
The City of Boulder posted a video of an old pedestrian bridge coming down.
BOULDER, CO — An aging pedestrian bridge was removed ahead of schedule in Boulder and a video of the collapse was posted on social media. The bridge came down on Saturday.
The Foothills Parkway Underpass project, on CO 157 just south of Colorado Avenue, is set to be completed in about one year, the city said. The new underpass will replace the now-demolished bridge.
"The bridge was constructed in 1978 and is at the end of its service life, requiring more frequent maintenance, and does not meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and other bicycle facility design guidelines," the city said in a notice to residents.

Once the underpass work on the west side is complete, vehicles will be shifted to the west side of Foothills Parkway and underpass construction will take place on the east side, the city said.
