The work will help repair a 15 mile section of Colorado Highway 119 which was damaged in the 2013 floods.
BOULDER, CO -- Boulder Canyon will be closed in both directions from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 17–Friday, April 19 for rock removal activity, according to information provided by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The closure will affect the road between Hurricane Hill and the Boulder city limits.
The road repairs are necessary due to damage sustained to a 15 mile section of the canyon during the 2013 floods. This week's rock removal will occur specifically between mile markers 39–41. The closure will be monitored by representatives from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department as well as traffic control flaggers. Access to personal property within the canyon will be allowed to local residents between Nederland and Fourmile Canyon.
The Boulder Canyon Trail and Boulder Creek will also be closed from Eben G. Fine Park to Fourmile Canyon from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
