Here's Your Chance To Name Longmont's Newest Parks
The community will have a chance to offer submissions—make sure yours is counted.
LONGMONT, CO — The City of Longmont is offering residents the chance to help name two community parks this summer. Submissions will be accepted throughout May, and it will be up to the City Council to make the final selection.
Suggestions for a new name for Wertman Neighborhood Park must be in by May 8. Wertman is an 8-acre parcel in southeast Longmont. According to information from the city, it is the oldest neighborhood in Longmont that does not currently have a park within one-half mile. Proposed park amenities include a wildflower garden, two pickleball courts, restrooms, a basketball court, a playground, a picnic area, lawn space, a trail loop, an off-leash dog area, disc golf holes, slackline/hammock posts, and tree and shrub landscaping.
Naming suggestions for South Clover Basin Neighborhood Park must be submitted by June 1. South Clover Basin is a 6.84-acre park in southwest Longmont. Nearby neighborhoods include Somerset Meadows, Meadowview West, Tromonto and the future North Star neighborhood. This park is partially funded by a donation from the Somerset Meadows developer in exchange for expedited park development. Current proposed amenities include slackline/hammock posts, natural open space, a nature-themed playground, an open lawn, outdoor fitness spaces, restrooms, a bike skills track, a small shelter, trails, and a xeric garden area.
