Man Escapes Injured From Lyons Mobile Home Fire
Although he was able to get out of the home, the man remains hospitalized.
LYONS, CO -- A Lyons man escaped with injuries from a fire that destroyed his motor home and damaged three cars and a nearby house Saturday evening, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department. Investigators currently believe that the fire was accidental and may have been sparked by work the man was doing on a heater inside the motor home.
Emergency personnel responded to reports of fire shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of County Road 69, arriving to find a fully-engulfed recreational motor home, according to the sheriff's department The motor home's occupant, a 56-year-old Lyons man, had gotten out, but rescuers found him only 10-15 feet away from the burning vehicle. A sheriff's deputy and firefighter dragged him to safety, and he was later transported to a local hospital for smoke and fire-related injuries.
Firefighters from the Lyons Fire Protection District, Hygiene Fire Protection District, and Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District were able to contain the blaze in less than 15 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and will officially be determined by the Lyons Fire Protection District and the Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team.

As of Sunday afternoon, the man not been released from the hospital.
