Solar Grant Funds Available In Boulder

Up to $3,000 in solar energy grants are available for income-qualified residents through Boulder County to add solar power to your home.

BOULDER, CO -- Interested in solar power for your home? Boulder County is offering up to $3,000 in solar grant funds for income-qualified homes. Single family, as well as townhouses, row homes and mobile homes are eligible. Applications are due by March 15.

The EnergySmart IQ Solar Grant is available through Boulder County's Sustainbility Office and the EnergySmart service.

"In Boulder County, homes account for a quarter of our total greenhouse gas emissions – gasses directly linked to our rapidly changing climate and extreme weather events," a statement from the county said. The grant program "gives everyone the opportunity to be the change you want to see in your community!"

The first step is an over-the phone consultation. This free advising service will introduce you to practical and creative solutions to create a more sustainable home, the county published in a statement.

  • Introduce and plan out which energy upgrades are most cost effective for your home
  • Connect you with pre-qualified contractors and review bids with you
  • Find and apply for all applicable rebates and incentives

  1. Contact your EnergySmart Advisor to complete the Solar IQ Grant Application
  2. Submit your 2017 (or most recent) Tax Document(s) (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ)
  3. Write and submit a Statement of Need essay (up to 1 page)

Grant awardees will be notified by April 15. Grant awards must have a signed contract with a solar contractor by June 15. The project must be completed by Nov. 30, 2018.
