BOULDER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for Boulder and Denver's west metro area.

A winter weather advisory will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Friday.

Between 3 and 6 inches of snow are expected to fall, weather officials said. Wind could gust up to 35 mph.

"Plan on slippery road conditions," the alert read. "The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning commute."

The advisory was issued for the Southern Front Range Foothills, Boulder, Fort Collins, Denver's west metro area and Castle Rock.

Boulder can expect an 80 percent chance of snow showers on Friday, mainly before noon, weather officials said. There's a 40 percent chance of snow Friday night.
