Austin, Texas Puppets & Orchestra At Broomfield Auditorium

Orchestra Mother Falcon performs an original adaptation, "Petra And the Wolf," with puppetry and a youth theater group.

BROOMFIELD, CO -- Austin, Texas-based Mother Falcon, a mini-orchestra has been described by NPR as "the little orchestra that can seemingly do the impossible" will perform March 31 at the Broomfield Auditorium. Mother Falcon will present a brand new score for young people called "Petra and the Wolf" -- inspired by the Prokofiev classic Peter and the Wolf -- with captivating large-scale puppetry by Austin's Glass Half Full Theatre.

The story of Petra and the Wolf is told through a combination of actors and puppets. Petra is played by the single actor, while all of the animals and the grandfather character are represented by puppets.

Playful Petra and her grandfather, Peter, live in South Texas with their friends the Cat, the Duck, and the Bird. All is peaceful until the day the red wolf intrudes on their farm and kills one of their animal friends. To comfort her, Peter tells Petra about how he dealt with the wolf that killed his pet when he was young. What Petra decides to do next will take the utmost courage.
