Baseball Bat Break-in: Broomfield Police Investigating

An 88-year-old man was robbed by two men wielding a baseball bat in an early-morning burglary, police said.

BROOMFIELD, CO – Police are still investigating an early morning break-in on Saturday by two men who robbed an elderly Broomfield man of cash and his phone.

As first reported in the Boulder Daily Camera, Broomfield police responded to the home of an 88-year-old man in the 100 block of Hemlock Way on Jan. 26, around 5:40 a.m. The resident told police that two men, wearing bandanas over their faces, entered his home and demanded valuables. One was carrying a baseball bat, the man told police. The elderly man was uninjured.

He described the two men as both white and between 5 8" and 5' 10" tall.

Investigators found no signs of forced entry, said Jolene Reefe, Broomfield police public information officer Monday. Initially it was believed that a wallet was stolen, but Reefe said the robbers only got away with a cell phone, some important papers and a small amount of cash.

Officers had no leads on the break-in on Monday, she said.
