Broomfield July 4th Fireworks, Bike Parade & More: 2018 Guide

Don't miss Broomfield's free Independence Day celebration July 4 with softball, a bike parade, pony rides, and of course, fireworks.

BROOMFIELD, CO – The Fourth of July is coming up, and Broomfield's will celebrate with the city's Great American Picnic Independence Day festivities including music, a softball game, pony rides, food and of course fireworks. (Rain date is July 5).

The action takes place at Broomfield County Commons Park, 13200 Sheridan Blvd.

If you're ready to go earlier, don't miss the noon softball match between the Senior Softball Team and members of the Broomfield City Council at Northmoor Park.

Here's the lowdown on the official festivities:

Schedule:

-5 p.m. Activities begin:

  • Pony rides for $3 (Ticket sales end at 8 p.m.)
  • Inflatables for $8 unlimited play (Ticket sales end at 8 p.m.)
  • Concessions and food vendors open

-5 - 11p.m. Shuttle to/from Legacy High School
-5:45 p.m. Bike Parade (Line-up at the "South Red" shelter near Championship Field at 5:30 p.m.

  • Decorate your bicycles/tricycles/wagons and scooters and meet at the South Red shelter near Championship Field at Broomfield County Commons on July 4 at 5:30 p.m. The bike parade is for everyone of all ages. Kids are required to wear a helmet!

-6 p.m. "17th Avenue Allstars" at the Main Stage

-6:15 p.m. City Council gives away free Summer Treats

Parking:

  • The Broomfield County Commons: Very limited parking is available. Limited Handicap parking available at the Commons west parking lot. Accessible parking is located at the Commons west parking lot. If you park on Broomfield County Commons Road, please park on the south side of the street only. RV’s, Campers, trailers or other extra-large vehicles will ONLY be allowed to park in the Legacy High School parking lots.
  • Legacy High School: Shuttle service to and from the Broomfield County Commons will be provided. Shuttle service runs from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. Meet at the Gazebo at Legacy High School to take the shuttle to the Commons.
  • LDS Church across the street east of the Paul Derda Recreation Center.
  • Why not carpool?

Weather: An alternate rain date (for fireworks only) will be July 5. For real-time updates on weather status, please check Broomfield's Facebook or Twitter pages.

The following items are not allowed in the park:

  • Glass bottles or containers
  • Open fires
  • Charcoal Grills (Propane grills are allowed, but not on artificial turf fields.)

Leave the fireworks to the professionals:

No fireworks are allowed in the park. Most fireworks are prohibited in Broomfield. Any device that explodes or leaves the ground on its own power is illegal. Violators that use, posses or sell prohibited fireworks face a minimum fine of $100 up to $1000, plus court costs. Allowable items include: "Toy caps which do not contain more than twenty-five hundredths of a grain of explosive compound per cap; Sparklers, trick matches, cigarette loads, trick noisemakers, toy smoke devices and novelty auto alarms," per city ordinance.
