Broomfield Non-Profit Rabbit Shelter At Capacity

Colorado House Rabbit Society is at capacity and looking for people who want to adopt a pet.

BROOMFIELD, CO – A Broomfield animal shelter that specializes in domestic rabbits says it's no longer accepting additional rabbits until numbers drop.

The Colorado House Rabbit Society told Fox31 a large influx of rabbits from Pagosa Springs has overloaded the shelter's capacity. The shelter can normally support 130 rabbits, but it's now housing 165, said Nancy LaRoche, executive director.

A woman who raised rabbits for meat abandoned 15 rabbits which were absorbed by the shelter, LaRoche told Fox31.
