Broomfield Police Honor Fallen Trooper: 'Rest In Peace, Hero'

BROOMFIELD, CO — The Broomfield Police Department joined departments from across the state in honoring Colorado State Trooper William Modén this week. The trooper was hit and killed by a vehicle last week while he investigated a crash on Interstate 70 in eastern Colorado.

A memorial service and funeral procession was held for Modén Friday morning.

"We stand and ride with the Colorado State Patrol today. The Broomfield Police Department is out in support of Trooper William Moden and our entire law enforcement family," the department posted on social media. "Rest in peace, hero. You served until the end and we are humbled to be a part of today's procession."

The procession began at 9 a.m. in the 94000 block of East Hampden Avenue and traveled to Denver First Church, where the memorial was held.

Modén, 37, was hit and killed by a vehicle June 14 while investigating a crash on Interstate 70 near Deer Trail.

Instead of flowers, Modén's family is asking for donations to The Adoption Exchange at adoptex.org or financial contributions to Colorado State Patrol's Family Foundation to the Modén Family Fund at cspffdonation.coloradosafedriver.org or 55 Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80226.

Cards for can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday or mailed to Colorado State Patrol Adams County Office at 8200 U.S. Hwy 85, Commerce City, CO 80022.
