The rubbery clog company will march into a new spot in Broomfield in 2020, the CEO said.

NIWOT, CO -Crocs, Inc., makers of rubbery clog-like footwear announced that it will relocate its corporate headquarters in 2020, from Niwot to Broomfield.
“Our business is strong and we continue to explore ways to meet the needs of our employees while investing in our future,” said Andrew Rees, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This is an exciting time to be at Crocs, and just like our iconic product, this best-in-class new headquarters will help our employees be comfortable in their own shoes.”
Denver Business Journal reported that the Colorado Economic Development Commission approved $606,272 worth of job-growth incentive tax credits for a company code named “Project Playa,” which was believed to be Crocs. There was fear that the company could move the headquarters to Dayton or Boston (where CEO Rees lives) DBJ reported.

It was unclear whether the City and County of Broomfield offered incentives. The new headquarters, will be located at 13699 Via Varra Road in Broomfield. The city's economic development division has been marketing the property, built in 2017. The new office space at 88,000 sq. ft. will shrink the company's footprint. The Niwot facility is larger, Denver Business Journal reported.
Crocs currently has 375 employees at the Niwot headquarters.

The rubbery footwear are often imitated, but never duplicated, and have been spotted on the feet of George W. Bush (who wore them with socks) and Michelle Obama (who didn't). On the feet of children, they are often decorated with Jibbitz, little rubbery charms that attach onto the shoes through the air holes on top.
The company said moving to Broomfield along Route 36 would be "more convenient and centrally located for the majority of Crocs employees."
A lease for the space has been negotiated with Ektin Johnson Real Estate Partners, with an initial term of 10 years and two five-year renewal options. Crocs has selected Denver-based Venture Architecture to design the offices, the company said in a press release.
“We are grateful that Niwot has been our home for more than a decade, and are thrilled to keep and grow our global headquarters in the thriving state of Colorado,” Rees said in a statement.
