Expert monster trackers are reporting that the Standley Lake Monster will be traveleing up the Big Dry Creek Trail to visit Metzger Farm Open Space (12080 Lowell Blvd.) from July 16-20. The colorful eggs are strewn along the trails to be found. It's like an Easter Egg hunt, except the instead of a bunny, the creature leaving the eggs is an indistinct figure captured in blurry anonymous photographs.
Children may take the mystical eggs to Standley Lake Nature Center (9785 Eagle View Loop, Westminster 80021) for a certificate of authenticity, and maybe share their own drawings of the monster.
This is one of the challenges for the Broomfield 100 Nature Explorers. Complete six of the challenges or rack up 100 points for prizes at the end of the summer at Broomfield Days on September 15.
