Standley Lake Football 4th-Quarter Rally Defeats Golden

Late 89-yard touchdown drive brought the win home for Gators

ARVADA, CO — By Dennis Pleuss for CHSAANow.com/JeffCo The fourth quarter belonged to Standley Lake senior Alex France late Friday afternoon at the North Area Athletic Complex.

The Gators’ starting quarterback and cornerback had a huge pass breakup in the end zone on defense to prevent Golden from taking a two-score lead early in the fourth quarter. France followed that up guiding Standley Lake on an 89-yard touchdown drive that he capped off with a 3-yard touchdown run.

“It was a wild fourth quarter. That’s the type of stuff we live for playing high school football,” France said after Standley Lake hung on for a 27-21 victory. “We fought hard and got this victory today.”
