Victims IDed In Husband-Wife Murder Suicide In Broomfield
A popular local dentist and her husband were found dead in Broomfield Monday morning.
BROOMFIELD, CO – The Adams County Coroner's office released the names of a husband and wife found dead in their Broomfield home Monday morning.
Kate McDowell, 40, a local dentist, and her husband Thad McDowell, 45, were found dead by police at 2720 Calkins Place in Broomfield, the coroner's office said. The office did not give a cause of death for either McDowell, but said that Kate had died of homicide and Thad of suicide.
Broomfield Police received a call to the residence about 8:45 a.m., then posted on social media around 9:15 a.m. that they were investigating an incident in the neighborhood. They later posted that it was a "domestic violence situation" and said the names of the deceased would be released later by the coroner.

"We ask that you please respect the privacy of the families involved and keep them in your thoughts," police posted on Facebook.
Kate McDowell, originally from Illinois, was the owner of Sunrise Dental Care in Boulder, the Broomfield Enterprise reported. Friends told the Enterprise the couple had married recently.

"There's a hole in our family now that she's gone," Kate's mother, Mary Brokaw, told the Enterprise Tuesday. "I just don't have words to tell you what it's doing to us."
