DENVER, CO – The Denver Zoo announced that mommy Linne's two-toed sloth "Charlotte Greenie" is expecting another baby in 2019.
Charlotte, age 23, gave birth to Baby Ruth last year.
The zoo is carefully monitoring the pregnancy, a press release said. The gestation period is about 10 months. The sloth family, including the pregnant Charlotte, dad Elliott (28) and baby Ruth are all displayed at a habitat at the zoo's Bird World building.

The new baby is expected to be about 10 inches long and weigh about 10-13 ounces when it's born.
Linne's two-toed sloths, which are also known as the Linnaeus's two-toed sloth or southern two-toed sloths, are found in the rainforests of South America, primarily in Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. They are a nocturnal species that spend 15 to 20 hours per day sleeping, and become active about an hour after sunset until about two hours before sunrise.

Linne's two-toed sloths are among two types of sloths—two-toed and three-toed—and six different species, including the pygmy three-toed, maned, pale-throated, brown-throated, and Hoffman's. Although the Linne's two-toed is not currently considered threated, two other species, the pygmy three-toed and maned, are critically endangered and vulnerable, respectively.
The new baby should arrive in February or March, the zoo said.
