Brown Palace Hotel In Denver Sells For $125M To Texas Firm

Fort Worth-based firm buys Brown Palace and adjacent Holiday Inn Express to create new complex, reports said.

DENVER, CO – The Brown Palace Hotel will be under new management soon. Open in Denver since 1892, the hotel was sold last week to Fort-Worth-based Crescent Real Estate Holdings, LLC, according to a press release.

The sale was reported first in Denver Business Journal in April, after employees received an email detailing outlines of the sale.

The sale price was $125 million, according to June 7 Denver County deed records obtained by DBJ.

The sale includes the adjacent Holiday Inn Express property at 401 17th Street. The company will operate the two locations as The Brown Palace Hotel Complex.

Buyers are bringing in new management, run by Connecticut-based HEI Hotels & Resorts, DBJ reported. They currently manage Wildwood Snowmass Village and the Westin Snowmass Resort.

Both hotels will be remodeled, the company said.

In 2014, the Denver landmark hotel was purchased by Dallas-based Crow Holdings for $103 million, DBJ reported.

The historic Brown Palace, located at 321 17th St., with 241 guest rooms, several restaurants and a spa has been visited by nearly every U.S. president since Teddy Roosevelt.
