DENVER, CO — The summer travel season is underway, and Americans are pulling out their credit cards for sunny vacations, weddings and holidays. But those flying out of Denver don't have to fork out a lot of money for tickets, according to a new report by FinanceBuzz, which compares airfare at the 45 busiest airports in the country.

Using U.S. Department of Transportation data, the report ranked Denver No. 7 for lowest average domestic fares. Travelers flying out of Denver International Airport pay an average of $302.55 for fares, according to the report.

The top three airports in the country boasted an average fare of under $250. McCarran Airport in Las Vegas topped the list, followed by two Florida airports, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport and Orlando Airport.

The three most expensive airports on the list were Washington Dulles Airport, Charlotte/Douglas Airport and Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

The nation's two busiest airports, Los Angeles (LAX) and Chicago O'Hare, fell in the middle of the pack, at No.29 and No. 19, respectively.

Average domestic airfares reached an all-time low last year in the country, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation.
