Colorado Coronavirus Update: 1,416 New Cases Reported

Daily coronavirus case numbers in Colorado have surged over the past several weeks, state public health officials said.

Between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, 1,416 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado.

As of Tuesday, 493,029 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state among more than 2,847,000 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 27,017 people have been hospitalized.

Colorado's COVID-19 death toll:

• Deaths among cases: 6,211
• Deaths due to COVID-19: 6,359

More than 2.3 million Coloradans have received at least their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to state data. More than 1.5 million — around 26 percent of the state's population — are fully immunized.

Around 33 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Tuesday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Around 7 percent of Colorado hospitals reported anticipating staff shortages over the next week, and 3 percent of facilities reported anticipating ICU bed shortages.
