Colorado Coronavirus Update: 1,490 New Cases Reported

Daily coronavirus case numbers in Colorado have remained steady over the past month, but some counties have seen an uptick over the past two weeks, state public health data shows.

Between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, 1,490 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado.

As of Wednesday, 472,167 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state among more than 2,766,845 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 25,960 people have been hospitalized.

Colorado's COVID-19 death toll:

• Deaths among cases: 6,139
• Deaths due to COVID-19: 6,285

More than 1.8 million Coloradans have received at least their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to state data. More than 1.1 million Coloradans — just under 20 percent of the state's population — are fully immunized.

Around 29 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Wednesday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Around 8 percent of Colorado hospitals reported anticipating staff shortages over the next week, and 2 percent of facilities reported anticipating ICU bed shortages.

All Colorado residents ages 16 and older became eligible Friday to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
