Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Denver neighborhood battles with city over trash pick up. The Congress Park Neighbors association have been embroiled in a battle with the city of Denver over switching trash pickup from alleys to the front of homes. A year after the change, neighbors still think the change was garbage. (Westword)
  2. Tensions rising over speeding e-bikes on trails. Communities across the state are mostly welcoming those that use e-bikes, but a battle is brewing on whether or not to allow them on their off-road trails. (CO Sun)
  3. With warmer temperatures, new alert to be used. The National Weather Service in Colorado is adopting a new type of heat warning index. The new system is called HeatRisk and it relies on local climate data to determine how much hotter temperatures will than normal, and what could be hazardous to humans. (KHN)
  4. The promise of public bathrooms in Denver being accessible has been broken. When launched, the public bathroom at 16th and Champa street was supposed to serve tourists, downtown workers and those experiencing homelessness. But it's been closed since last November. (Westword)
  5. City expecting a rough winter at Union Station for homeless and drug use. When colder temperatures rise, both RTD and the City of Denver are expecting an uptick in crime at the transit station this winter as those without homes move toward warmer areas. (Denverite)
