Denver Airport Returns to Operation After Bomb Cyclone

First flights were OKed for takeoff and crews were plowing runways at DIA Thursday morning after Wednesday's blizzard.

DENVER, CO – Denver International Airport slowly returned to operation Thursday morning after Wednesday's "bomb cyclone" blizzard, aka winter storm "Ullmer."

Cleanup crews were on the ground at DIA Thursday after the airport shut down six runways and cancelled more than 1,200 flights due to white-out conditions and wind gusts up to 70 mph Wednesday.

The airport announced operations were expected to kick into full gear around noon Thursday.
