Denver Celebrates Trio Of Arches On South Pearl
The city is celebrating the creation of its newest landmark with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday.
DENVER, CO — The finishing touches have been completed on three arches over South Pearl Street in Denver, and the city is celebrating with a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday.
Known for the South Pearl Street Farmers Market, popular restaurants and boutique merchants, the historic South Pearl Street is now tied together with the arches in an effort to support local businesses.
“This has been a dream and vision of the South Pearl Street Association and community for many years," said Mark Gill, president of the South Pearl Street Association, in a statement. "In fact, we first had the idea of a less permanent banner for our first music festival, Blues & Brews, in 2007."

The street arches, which feature a new South Pearl logo, are inspired in part by photos of the old Welcome Arch in Union Station, the association said.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to tangibly tie together the North, Central, and South areas of the South Pearl Street District and heighten the area’s already-great vibe and sense of place,” Gill said.

The South Pearl Street Farmers Market is set to return May 9, and other popular festivities and activities will be announced in the coming months, the association said.
The arches were refined and enhanced by Aden Holt of One Ton Creative, and installed by local contractor Freeman Signs. The South Pearl Street Association funded the arches with proceeds from the farmer's market, festivals and other events, the group said.
Mayor Michael Hancock is scheduled to attend the ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. at 1581 South Pearl Street. The public is invited to the celebration, but all attendees are asked to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
