DENVER, CO — A Colorado family was forced off a United Airlines plane before it departed from the Denver International Airport for New Jersey, apparently because their 2-year-old girl would not wear a mask.

An edited video shared on Instagram by Eliz Fulop shows a United flight attendant request her family leave the plane after the 2-year-old, Edeline, resisted attempts by her father, Erhard Orban, to put a mask on her.

Fulop told KDVR Fox 31 she felt "humiliated" that the airline would force them to leave the plane due to a toddler's refusal to wear a face covering. She said they had made multiple attempts to get the young girl to wear it.

Orban pleaded with the flight attendant, the video shows, telling him he is "literally" holding the mask over his daughter's face.

“Very confused," Fulop told KDVR. "Almost disgusted with myself for having to do that to my daughter.”

United Airlines said in a statement, reported by KDVR, their policy mandates everyone onboard a plane age two or older must wear a mask.

"These procedures are not only backed by guidance from the CDC and our partners at the Cleveland Clinic, but they're also consistent across every major airline," United said, adding that the Breckenridge family's tickets were refunded and belongings returned.
