Family Dog Found After Being Lost In Woods For More Than A Month

A Commerce City family has been reunited with their beloved dog.

COMMERCE CITY, CO — A 2-year-old shelter rescue dog has been reunited with his family after being lost for 33 nights. Tiger, named for his black and brown stripes, went missing during a family camping trip in Idaho Springs in early June.

Tiger's owner, Jenny Gonzalez, said the pup chewed through his tether and went across a street, but came back when she called for him, according to Fox 31 Denver, which first reported the story. A car was coming at the same time, and Tiger was hit.

"He got scared and ran into mountains and we still can’t find him," Gonzalez said in a post on social media in early June.

Gonzalez circulated many Facebook posts and a page dedicated to Tiger in hopes of finding their beloved pet. Search parties combed the woods where he went missing.

Then 33 nights later, a family on vacation found Tiger sitting at the back door of their cabin, which was near the spot where he went missing, Fox 31 reported. He was very skinny and had several serious injuries, including broken toes on his back paw.

The family is fundraising to pay for the unexpected vet bills. Anyone who wants to help Tiger can call Animal Critical Care and Emergency Services at 303-239-1200 and request their money be donated to Jenny Gonzalez and Tiger.
