Farmers' Almanac Issues Summer 2021 Forecast For Colorado
What kind of weather can we expect in Colorado this summer? Here's the Farmers' Almanac forecast.

As Colorado's coronavirus vaccination rates climb, many are eager to get outdoors and enjoy their summer with fewer restrictions and closures. The Farmers' Almanac has released its summer 2021 weather forecast for Colorado, just in time for summer planning.
The weather in Colorado is expected to be hot and dry, and the potential for severe storms will be higher than usual, according to the almanac.
"There will be a greater-than-average frequency of thunderstorms for a large portion of the country," said Almanac editor, Peter Geiger, Philom. While summer thunderstorms are quite common, the number of storms predicted is a bit unusual, Geiger's publication added.

Summer temperatures are expected to rise above normal for about two-thirds of the country, especially in the south and east. Typically, the hottest summer weather occurs in last July or early August; this year's hottest temperatures could happen in late August and early September.
Other early forecasts for Colorado also predict hot and dry weather, and above-normal wildfire potential; however, Colorado's firefighting resources expanded after the 2020 wildfire season — $54 million has been allocated for response and prevention efforts in our state.

The secret formula used by the Farmers' Almanac is based on sunspot activity, tidal forces resulting from the moon's gravitational pull, planetary alignment and other factors. It's known only by the almanac's weather prognosticator, who goes by the pseudonym Caleb Weatherbee.
