Former RTD Leader Nominated For CEO Of DIA
Mayor Michael Hancock nominated Phil Washington as CEO of Denver International Airport.
DENVER, CO — Mayor Michael Hancock announced Monday his nomination for CEO of Denver International Airport.
Phil Washington, former CEO of the Regional Transportation District, was chosen by the mayor to lead the airport.
Washington served as general manager and CEO of RTD for nine years, and implemented Denver's West Corridor Rail Line project, the Union Station project and the FasTracks program.

He was then unanimously selected CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Washington said he's "excited to have the opportunity not only to return home, but to lead one of the premier airports and airport teams anywhere in the world."

DIA Chief Executive Officer Kim Day is set to retire in July after 13 years in her position.
Washington needs to be confirmed by Denver City Council before he accepts the role.
