WalletHub evaluated these three dimensions using 24 relevant metrics, which includes statistics such as the number of pet businesses and dog-friendly restaurants per capita, average home square footage, and strength of animal protection laws.

It's no small feat caring for a pet. A long list of expenses comes with caring for the furry member of the family, such as grooming and medical care, which can run anywhere from $227 to more than $2,000 annually, depending on the animal, according to the study's authors.
Scottsdale, Arizona, ranked as the most pet-friendly city for the second year in a row, while Fresno, California, ranked as the least pet-friendly city, according to the report.
