Housing Market Aurora: Homes Selling For More Than Asking Price, Study Says

A study of Metro-Denver home sales data shows 40-50 percent of suburban Aurora homes sold for more than asking price this summer.

DENVER, CO -- Everyone knows Metro Denver has a tight housing market, with demand for homes in the area exceeding the supply. A new study shows that this summer, the Denver suburb of Aurora had a boost in sales prices with more between 40-50 percent of sellers receiving more than asking price.

HomeLight.com, an online site connecting home sellers with real estate agents, reviewed the last three years’ worth of home transactions data to determine some of the country’s tightest housing markets.

"The American City Business Journal predicts the population of Denver is projected to grow by more than 50 percent in the next 25 years, meaning the population will continue to far outstrip available housing," a statement from HomeLight said.

According to HomeLight, sellers in the suburb of Aurora are feeling the tight market – at least 25 percent of Aurora homes sold get more than the initial list price. Between March and August, between 40 and 50 percent of home sellers get more than their initial ask.
