Mothers' Milk Bank Baby Cafe To Open In Denver
Free breastfeeding support will be available every week for new and expecting moms.

DENVER, CO — A new Mothers’ Milk Bank Baby Café, which aims to help Colorado mothers with breastfeeding, will celebrate its grand opening Feb. 5 in Denver. The group will offer moms free professional breastfeeding support from an international board certified lactation consultant.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 89 percent of new moms in Colorado initiate breastfeeding, yet only 27 percent are exclusively breastfeeding when their baby is just six months old.
The Mothers’ Milk Bank Baby Café will open at the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center, 350 S. Dahlia Street. The grand opening party will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Feb. 5. All moms, babies, friends and families are invited to attend the event, which will include a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m., refreshments, a raffle, a music class at 10:45 and GroovaRoo demonstrations.

Abby Malman Case, an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, said the group will also offer mothers a chance to be a part of a community.

“Lactation support can often be very expensive, and we want to help ALL parents meet their breastfeeding goals,” Malman Case said.
In the Baby Café, mothers drop by to relax, share tips and techniques, and socialize with other moms. Their babies can be weighed before and after feeding.
The grand opening coincides with the week of Tu Bishvat. In the Jewish tradition, Tu Bishvat is the "new year of the trees" and it is customary to plant trees in celebration of the holiday. The community center will be giving away free planting seed paper for event guests to take home and plant.
After Feb. 5, the Baby Café will be open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 350 S. Dahlia Street in Denver.
