Susan Greene And Tina Griego On Their Partnership At The Indy
The two Colorado news veterans, and former competitors, discuss working together and the joy of "rolling around in words."
DENVER, CO – By Staff Report at The Colorado Independent. Hello from the news desk of our women-run newsroom. By way of introduction, we are Colorado Independent Editor Susan Greene and Managing Editor Tina Griego. Don’t let our youthful appearance fool you. We are, both of us, dinosaurs, having come of age in traditional newspapers. We started working together more than 20 years ago at The Denver Post and also competed against each other when Tina wrote for The Rocky Mountain News. Times have changed and Colorado’s news landscape has shifted in ways that are both heartbreaking and heartening.
For the past two years, we’ve been collaborating on this ever-evolving experiment in digital, public-interest, nonprofit news that is The Indy. We are two very different women with vastly different backgrounds and approaches to our craft (and to a million other things). Our partnership editing our colleagues’ and each other’s work is a labor of love. So is our partnership trying like hell to keep growing our smart, soulful news team and to keep The Indy financially sustainable so we can continue providing our news and commentary for free online and to newspapers statewide.
Please partner with us by scheduling a Colorado Gives Day donation today. Your contribution will be TRIPLED by NewsMatch, a consortium of national foundations backing nonprofit news outlets, and a generous reader here in Colorado. Thanks!
