VFW Post Chosen From 6k Worldwide as #StillServing Post of Month

Denver VFW Post #1 Chosen as May #StillServing Post of the Month from 6k Posts Around World

VFW Denver Post 1 was chosen from more than 6,000 Posts worldwide as the VFW #StillServing Post of the Month for May. The VFW #StillServing national campaign honors veterans and Posts who continue to serve in their community after active duty.

Post 1 members founded and operate the nonprofit Veteran’s Arts Council (VAC) to
showcase veteran artists’ work to the public, mentor artists, host art walks,
artist talks and more. The mission of the gallery is to empower veterans
through creating art, connect veterans to the community and enrich the lives of
Denver residents. Another benefit the Post provides veterans is free yoga
classes although the building is currently being renovated, with members doing
much of the work themselves.

Post 1 is just that, the first and therefore oldest VFW Post
established anywhere in the world. It also has the distinction of previously
being featured on the cover of the New York Times, in a national Associated
Press story and on PBS. Its past and present members include a Medal of Honor
recipient and a White House Champion of Change awardee.
