2 Juvenile JeffCo Escapees Caught Near Lookout Mountain: Police

LAKEWOOD, CO – Two juvenile inmates who escaped from the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center yesterday are now back in custody, the Golden Police Department said.

Javier Madera, age 19, and 17-year old Emilio Dominguez were captured after a vehicle chase and a foot pursuit, police said.

Around 3:45 p.m., fugitive officers from Denver Police and Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force spotted the escapees in a car near 6th Avenue and Simms Street in Lakewood.

Officers chased the car into Golden and up Lookout Mountain Road, the juveniles crashed the vehicle near 1-70 and US 40, and tried to flee on foot and taken into custody. There were no injuries.

A juvenile woman was also taken into protective custody "while investigators determine her involvement," the Golden Police Department said. As an adult, 19-year old Madera will be booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Criminal Mischief and Escape. Dominguez, who was driving the vehicle, will be booked into the Mount View Youth Services Center facing charges of reckless driving, felony eluding, criminal mischief and escape, police said.

Police said the young men were discovered missing from their shared cell around 5:20 a.m. and staff found a dumpster turned on its side and sheets hanging out of a broken window on the second floor of the building.

Both were convicted sex offenders and reputed gang members, police said.
