CDOT Highway Work To Slow Down I-70, I-270
$1.8M median barrier replacement projects should be finished in late March 2019.
GOLDEN, CO - From Colorado Department of Transportation: On Monday, Dec. 3, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Cruz Construction will begin a safety project that replaces and installs new median barriers and brings them up to current standards on Interstate 70 and Interstate 270.
The project is taking place in the following locations:
Site 1: I-70 between the Lookout Mountain and Chief Hosa interchanges (mile 252.7 - 255.3)
Site 2: I-70 between the Morrison Rd. and C-470 interchanges (mile 258.5 - 259.8)
Site 3: West the of I-70/I-270 Interchange, and the east side of Quebec St. overpass (mile 4.4 - 5.1)

During project hours, eastbound and westbound traffic can expect lane shifts, lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 55 mph through the work zone. Motorists should use caution while driving through the work zone, as trucks will be entering and exiting the work area.
CDOT expects to complete this $1.8 million project in late March 2019. However, these operations are weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.

Traffic Impact and Information
To minimize traffic impacts, Cruz Construction will work on each site in separate phases. The current schedule is:
Site 1: I-70 between Lookout Mountain and Chief Hosa interchanges
Start Date: Monday, Nov. 26
December Eastbound hours: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
December Eastbound traffic impacts: shoulder closures and single lane closures
December Westbound hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
December Westbound traffic impacts: shoulder closures and single lane closures
Site 2: I-70 between Morrison Rd. and C-470 interchanges
Start Date: late January 2019
Daytime eastbound hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nighttime eastbound hours: 6 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Eastbound traffic impacts: shoulder closures and single lane closures
Daytime westbound hours: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nighttime westbound hours: 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Westbound traffic impacts: shoulder closures and single lane closures
Site 3: West side of I-70 and I-270 Interchange
Start Date: mid-February 20 19
Nighttime eastbound hours: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Eastbound traffic impacts: shoulder closures and single lane closures
Nighttime westbound hours: 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Westbound traffic impacts: shoulder closures and single lane closures
