Church Camp Counselor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Girl

An 11-year-old girl was assaulted at an Eagle Lake Day Camp, prosecutors said.

GOLDEN, CO — A church camp counselor is accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Jefferson County, the First Judicial District Attorney's Office said Friday.

Tolar Locke has been charged with one count of Sexual Assault of a Child by a person in a Position of Trust, the DA's office said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was called to an Eagle Lake Day Camp July 11 after someone reported that the girl had been assaulted.

Eagle Lake Day Camp issued the following statement:

“Eagle Lake Camps values the safety and dignity of every child. Each counselor is thoroughly trained in child protection and has passed an extensive criminal background check. We are fully cooperating with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in this investigation. Since this is a private matter involving a minor, we will provide no further comment on this issue.”

Locke appeared in court Friday and was advised of the charge against him. He posted $15,000 bond. His next court date is set for Aug. 15.
