Eastbound I-70 Lane Closed For 2 Weeks For Repairs

Traffic will be slowed near Mount Vernon Canyon until June 21, CDOT reports.

JEFFERSON COUNTY--Interstate 70 eastbound near Mount Vernon Canyon will be reduced by one lane this week and next week, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

The agency will close will close a single lane between mile points 257.5 to 258.5, starting today and lasting through Friday, June 15 at 3 p.m. The lane will be open to traffic over the weekend, June 16-17.

Then, the crews will resume work, closing the lane again Monday, June 18 at 9 a.m. projected to finish work Friday, June 21 at 3 p.m.

A washout below a culvert pipe has eroded soil under the interstate shoulder at this point. (See photo). Crews will be stabilizing the shoulder for the two week work project.

CDOT said message signs will be on-hand.
