Golden Candlelight Walk, Lighting The Lights, Holiday Parade
Here are some of the holiday events coming up in Golden.

GOLDEN, CO – The City of Golden will be busy this holiday season with one event after another. Here are some of the fun holiday events that will take place in the next few weeks:
Friday, Nov. 30: Candlelight Walk and Lighting the Lights
Walk through downtown Golden, candle in hand, singing holiday carols during this much beloved annual tradition. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for photos before the walk at the Dove Inn, 711 14th St. then gather at 6 p.m. at the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St. The walk begins at 6:30 p.m.down to the Visitors Center for a holiday show, the countdown to the lighting of the lights by Mayor Marjorie Sloan, and a short fireworks display from the roof of the Golden Hotel. Enjoy the lights that will shine all along Washington Avenue and Clear Creek, along with various activities for everyone to enjoy.

Other Evening Activities
5:30 to 8 p.m. - The Golden Library participates in the Candlelight Walk with cookies, cider and a children's craft. Golden Library, 1019 10th St.

7 p.m. - The Winter Celestial Sights - Get an up-close view of the winter night sky with naturalist Mike Dempsey from Jeffco Open Space and a powerful telescope. The telescope will be located outside the Visitors Center, 1010 Washington Ave.
7 to 9 p.m. - Visit the Golden History Museum after the walk or stroll through the Clear Creek History Park to warm up by the wood stove in the Historic Pearce Cabin. Sample roasted chestnuts while listening to music, singing and dancing in the hay barn provided by Virtuosity Dance Centre.
Saturday, Dec. 1: GHS Holiday Bazaar
Come do some Christmas Shopping at the Annual Golden High School Holiday Bazaar held by the PTA of Golden High. With one-of-a-kind gifts from over 90 different local artists, you can make a big dent on your holiday shopping list.
This is a fundraiser for the students at Golden High School, helping with scholarships, after prom party, grants, and more.
The Holiday Bazaar will be held at Golden High School, 701 24th St., Golden on Saturday, December 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Includes free parking and admission.
Saturday, Dec. 1: Olde Golden Christmas Parade
Don't miss the first Olde Golden Christmas Parade of the season this Saturday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. On Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center with traditional decorations and fun family events! The free Olde Golden Christmas Parades feature cowboys on horses, floats, bands, old cars, elves on unicycles, the Grinch in his corvette, and of course, Santa Claus.
The parade winds down Washington Avenue with lots of activities before and after including snappy barbershop quartets, hot cider, Victorian carolers, and antique fire trucks. The parades are presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, Dec. 1: Golden Concert Choir Fall Performance
The Golden Concert Choir will be performing selections from Handel's Messiah on Saturday, December 1 at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 38th Ave.

Sunday, Dec. 2: 3 p.m. and 7 p.m JSO Holiday Concert
Enjoy a performance of traditional holiday music plus Rossini's Cinderella Overture and selections from Grieg's Peer Gynt, Suites No. 1 and 2. The performance will feature special guest vocalists La Tanya Hall and Steven Taylor.
There will be two shows on December 2 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., both at the United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 39th Ave. A holiday silent auction will open for bidding at the conclusion of the matinee concert and close at the end of intermission of the evening concert.
The usual location for the JSO Holiday Concert, the CSM Green Center, is closed for renovations currently, requiring a venue change. To ensure that Golden residents can still easily attend the concert this year, a free shuttle is available for both performances, leaving from the Golden Visitors Center at 10th and Washington. The shuttle will depart at 2 p.m. for the matinee performance and at 6 p.m. for the evening performance. Call 303-278-4237 to reserve your spot! The shuttle is free, but driver gratuity is appreciated.

Sunday, Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m: Flavors of Golden Community Potluck
Come celebrate your community with a community potluck on Sunday, December 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.! The Flavors of Golden potluck combines inspirational remarks from five local organizations, an array of food offerings, time to sit down and have a relaxed meal and conversation with folks of varying perspectives and closing remarks by Mayor Marjorie Sloan.
This year, voluntary donations will be collected at the door to help support the five presenting organizations who care for our community. All are encouraged to bring food. RSVP online and sign up for what you will bring to the potluck.
The event is hosted by Golden United, a non-partisan, resident-driven effort to engage Golden area community members across all walks of life to find common ground and act with respect and dignity in addressing key issues.
